Imphal - In the wake of recent violence, security forces in Manipur conduct a successful joint combing operation, resulting in the recovery of 29 automatic weapons and warlike stores. The operation took place in sensitive areas across both the Hills and Valley sectors of Manipur. These efforts are part of the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order in the state.
During his visit to Manipur, Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the public to surrender all weapons and ammunition to the administration. This appeal was accompanied by a warning of a planned search-and-combing operation, with potential legal consequences for anyone found in possession of weapons during the operation.
The Spear Corps of the Indian Army announced the recovery through a tweet, highlighting the seizure of 29 weapons, including automatic firearms, mortars, hand grenades, and ammunition. The security forces utilized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and quadcopters for enhanced surveillance during the operations.

Advisor (Security) to the Manipur government, Kuldeep Singh, disclosed that a total of 868 arms and 11,518 pieces of ammunition have been recovered thus far from various locations in the violence-affected regions. Additionally, within the last 24 hours, authorities seized 57 arms, 318 pieces of ammunition, and 5 bombs.
The recoveries were made in the Porompat Police Station in Imphal East and Sugnu Police Station in Kakching districts of Manipur. To facilitate essential supplies, curfew relaxation periods have been implemented in several districts, with controlled movement of vehicles along NH-37.
Amidst these security measures, Manipur's ministers and MLAs have been visiting different areas, appealing for peace and calm. Furthermore, it is reported that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2023 was conducted peacefully in Manipur, with normal attendance at the examination centers.
These combined efforts by security forces, government officials, and local authorities aim to restore stability and create an environment of peace in Manipur.
