Greta Thunberg Faces Charges of Disobeying Police in Sweden

Stockholm - Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist, has been formally charged by Swedish prosecutors for disobeying law enforcement during a climate protest in Malmö. The incident occurred last month when Greta and fellow activists halted traffic at the oil terminal of the port in Malmö. The charges were confirmed by the Swedish Prosecution Authority, although the initial statement did not mention Greta by name.

According to reports, Greta and others were detained after refusing to comply with police orders to leave the protest scene. Prosecutors have described her actions as an act of disobedience. The Swedish Prosecution Authority spokesperson, Annika Collin, confirmed that the charges indeed pertain to Greta Thunberg.

Greta is expected to appear for trial at the end of July, as reported by Sydsvenskan, a local newspaper. The prosecutor handling the case, Charlotte Ottosen, explained that disobedience is typically punishable by fines. However, the specific punishment Greta might face will be determined during the trial.
