Beijing - Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday in southwestern China to discuss various joint projects, notably Indonesia's ambitious plan to develop a new capital. As part of the discussions, both governments signed agreements aimed at sharing knowledge and experience for the capital project. Indonesia intends to relocate its capital from Jakarta, a city burdened by congestion and pollution on Java island, to Nusantara on Borneo island in the coming year.
The meeting, which took place in Chengdu, also delved into other crucial matters. The two leaders explored opportunities for investments and collaboration in areas like health, research, technology, and regional affairs, including China's relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). President Widodo's office released a statement highlighting the key points discussed during their productive talks.
