World Cup 2023 warm-up matches: India to take on England, Australia will face Netherlands today

Guwahati: Team India will face the defending champions England today in a practice match ahead of their campaign of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. In today’s another match, Australia will face Netherlands. The matches will start at 2 pm in the afternoon.

On the first day of warm up matches, New Zealand defeated Pakistan. Avenging the Asia Cup defeat, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka while the match between South Africa and Afghanistan got abandoned without a ball being bowled due to bad weather. India will face Netherlands on 3rd of October 2023 in its second practice match.

The World Cup cricket tournament will start on 5th of October 2023. The defending champions England will face New Zealand in the opener. India's first match is scheduled on 8th of October when India will play against the mighty Australia.

India now enters the World Cup as the No.1 ODI team. Recent Asia Cup title win, and the series win against Australia give confidence to the men in blue.

India is also the favorites in the tournament as they are the current number one. Indian cricket fans are hoping that India will win the World Cup after 12 years. India last won the title in 2011 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni and co, beating Sri Lanka in the finals.

The top order batters including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubhman Gill, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have performed pretty well in the recent matches. This boosts the confidence of Team India.

On the other side, India also has a pretty competent bowling attack led by the experienced Jasprit Bumrah, and pacers like ICC world’s No.1 ODI bowler Muhammad Siraj, Muhammad Shami, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav. If all-rounders Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin can back the bowlers and batters rightly, the chances are much higher.
