Pope Francis, during his Wednesday General Audience, has once again appealed for an end to all wars, emphasizing the need for peace in our troubled world. In his greetings to the Italian-speaking faithful, Pope expressed solidarity with those enduring the hardships of war, particularly mentioning the people of Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, and other conflict-ridden regions.
"We renew our prayerful closeness to the dear Ukrainian population so harshly tried and to those who suffer the horror of war in Palestine and Israel, as well as in other parts of the world," he conveyed. Pope urged people to pray for those facing the brutal realities of war and called upon the Lord to sow the seed of peace in the hearts of world leaders.
Pope Francis has consistently prioritized the call for peace in his public addresses. In his recent annual "State of the World" address to Ambassadors accredited to the Holy See, he highlighted global concerns, with a particular focus on the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza and Russia's war in Ukraine. Pope condemned the proliferation of weapons, emphasizing that the illusion of deterrence is created, while in reality, the availability of weapons encourages their use and amplifies production. He stressed that weapons contribute to mistrust and divert essential resources.
