On the Feast of St. Mark, April 25, 1467, at the conclusion of a feast in Genazzano, Italy, a cloud descended on an ancient 5th-century dilapidated church dedicated to Our Lady of Good Counsel. The joyful group discovered a tiny, delicate picture of the Blessed Virgin and Child on a thin piece of plaster as the cloud lifted. It is claimed that the painting hung in midair on a tiny ledge, hanging without any support. It is claimed that this specific fresco dates from the Apostles' era.
The image of Our Lady of Good Counsel was kept in her original location even though the church suffered significant damage during World War II. Over 500 years later, the remarkably preserved image remains. Many miracles have been credited to Our Lady of Good Counsel's fervent prayers.
On April 25, a large number of pilgrims attend the annual spring celebration at the church in Genazzano. On April 26, the feast is observed in other parts of the world.
