The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has revealed its plans for the Bharatiya Antariksha Station (BAS), marking a major leap in India’s space exploration ambitions. Weighing 52 tonnes, the station will initially accommodate a crew of three, with the potential to expand to six in the future. This ambitious project was introduced at the Kannada Technical Seminar at the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bangalore.

The BAS is designed to support a variety of scientific activities, including interplanetary research, life sciences, and medical studies. It will also serve as a base for space tourism and the extraction of space resources, signaling a significant shift towards commercial applications in space exploration.
