Pope Challenges Delegation to Foster Compassion and Prayer During Jubilee Year

Pope Francis met with a delegation from Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network at the Apostolic Palace, urging them to help individuals and communities live the Jubilee Year with a spirit of prayer and compassion.  Pope emphasized the inseparable connection between prayer, compassion, and acts of mercy, stressing their importance as a guiding force throughout the Jubilee.

During the meeting, Pope Francis expressed gratitude for the positive reception of his latest encyclical, 'Dilexit Nos'. Pope shared that the document serves as “substantial nourishment” for fostering the spirituality of the Prayer Network’s apostolate, calling it “The Way of the Heart.” This concept, Pope explained, represents both the journey of Jesus’ Sacred Heart and the journey of each person’s heart, wounded by sin but capable of being transformed by love.

Pope also highlighted the crucial role of Mary in guiding us through both journeys. Recalling the Gospel of Luke, Pope Francis pointed out how Mary, who “kept all of Jesus’ words and actions,” serves as an example of reflecting on them in her heart. He encouraged all members of the Prayer Network to emulate Mary’s contemplative spirit.

Looking ahead to the Jubilee Year, which includes a special focus on Communication from January 24-26, Pope stressed that the Worldwide Prayer Network’s mission is vital in helping people live the Jubilee as a journey of faith. Through prayer, compassion, and works of mercy, Pope Francis called for a united effort to embrace those most in need and bring about positive change in communities around the world.
