Indian batsman Kohli not ready to retire

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli hinted that his recent tour of Australia might have been his last but made it clear that he has no immediate plans to retire, emphasizing his enduring love for the game.

Following India's 3-1 Test series defeat Down Under, the 36-year-old acknowledged the disappointment but insisted he still finds immense joy in playing. Despite ending a lean patch with an unbeaten century in the first Test in Perth, Kohli struggled throughout the series, managing just 190 runs at an average of 23.75.

Speaking at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli compared his recent struggles to his forgettable 2014 tour of England, where he scored only 134 runs. "If you ask about the toughest phase, the Australia tour is the freshest in my mind, so it feels the most intense. For years, the 2014 England tour haunted me the most. But I can’t dwell on it—I may not tour Australia again in four years, who knows? You have to make peace with the past."

Though Kohli retired from T20 internationals after India's World Cup triumph last year, he continues to play in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and remains a crucial member of India's Test squad. He also played a pivotal role in India’s recent Champions Trophy victory.

"My game isn't driven by achievements," he said. "It all comes down to the sheer love and enjoyment I have for cricket. As long as that passion remains, I’ll keep playing. And don’t worry, I’m not making any announcements—everything’s fine for now."
