In a dramatic response to cross-border terrorism, India has launched a high-precision military operation—Operation Sindoor—targeting multiple terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). As a precautionary measure, major airports across North India have been temporarily shut down for a 48-hour security lockdown.
Airports in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Dharamsala, and Amritsar have suspended operations, effectively grounding all inbound and outbound flights. The fallout from the operation has also impacted international air travel. Qatar Airways announced an immediate suspension of its services to Pakistan until further notice.
In a coordinated move, Air India confirmed the cancellation of all flights operating to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 12 noon today. Two international flights originally destined for Amritsar were rerouted to Delhi amid the heightened alert. Air India Express has advised passengers to consult their website for the latest travel updates, acknowledging that the airspace restrictions have significantly disrupted their flight schedules.
The sweeping airport closures come in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, which began at 1:44 AM and reportedly led to the decimation of nine major terror camps, including several entrenched within PoK. According to military sources, the strikes were a direct retaliation for the recent terrorist activities linked to Pakistani-backed groups.
As tension simmers along the border, India has fortified its security apparatus, and airspace management remains under strict military supervision. Travelers and citizens have been urged to remain patient and alert as the situation continues to evolve.
