Zelenskyy Urges Allies to Intensify Pressure on Russia as Renewed Air Strikes Hit Ukraine

Kyiv: Kyiv faced another day of tension and destruction as Russian forces launched a significant wave of air strikes across Ukraine, prompting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to call for increased international pressure on Moscow. The attacks, carried out with over 500 drones and multiple missiles, targeted 14 key infrastructure sites, including power facilities, transportation hubs, and other strategic locations. Ukrainian authorities reported injuries to at least four railway workers during the strikes, highlighting the ongoing toll on civilians and critical services.

In the aftermath, President Zelenskyy underscored the urgency of stronger sanctions against Russia, particularly measures aimed at crippling its war economy. Speaking via Telegram, he described the air strikes as “demonstrative aggression” and stressed that they would continue unabated without decisive international action. “It is only due to the lack of sufficient pressure, primarily on Russia’s war economy, that this aggression continues,” he said, emphasizing the importance of coordinated global efforts to hold Moscow accountable.

As part of his diplomatic push, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet Nordic and Baltic leaders in Denmark, followed by high-level discussions with European Union and U.S. allies in France. These meetings aim to reinforce security guarantees for Ukraine and strengthen what Zelenskyy calls the “coalition of the willing,” a network of nations committed to defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and deterring further Russian aggression. Officials also plan to discuss additional military aid, economic sanctions, and strategies to protect civilians and critical infrastructure from ongoing attacks.

The renewed strikes come amid rising tensions in the broader European security landscape. NATO and EU officials have indicated a growing sense of urgency to clarify defense commitments and support measures for Ukraine, while Ukraine continues to advocate for comprehensive security guarantees. President Zelenskyy’s diplomatic tour underscores his determination to galvanize international backing, ensuring that Ukraine can withstand Russia’s military campaign and pave the way for a stable, peaceful future in the region.

As the conflict enters its fourth year, Ukraine remains steadfast in its call for global solidarity. The combination of military resilience on the ground and diplomatic engagement abroad reflects the country’s strategy to confront aggression while pursuing avenues for lasting peace.
