Denmark: Copenhagen has emerged as a new hub of strategic defense collaboration as Denmark prepares to host a Ukrainian missile fuel production facility. Fire Point, a Ukrainian defense company known for manufacturing the Flamingo long-range missiles, will establish the facility near Skydstrup Air Force Base, which houses Denmark’s fleet of F-16 fighter jets. The development marks the first time a Ukrainian defense manufacturer will operate a production base outside Ukraine, reflecting deepening military-industrial ties between Kyiv and Western allies.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen underscored the significance of the initiative, calling it “a helping hand to Ukraine’s struggle for security, independence, and the opportunity to live in peace.” Poulsen highlighted Denmark’s robust support for Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022, which includes over 67.6 billion Danish crowns (approximately $10.13 billion) in military assistance. He described the fuel production facility as a tangible step toward strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and supporting regional stability.
The decision follows discussions initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in June, when he announced ongoing talks with Denmark, Norway, Germany, Canada, Britain, and Lithuania about joint weapons production. These collaborations are intended to enhance Ukraine’s defense industry, ensure a reliable supply of military resources, and integrate Ukrainian capabilities into broader Western defense frameworks.
To facilitate this strategic partnership, the Danish government has allocated 500 million Danish crowns to support Ukrainian firms expanding operations in Denmark. The fuel production facility is expected to bolster Ukraine’s missile production capabilities, enabling the country to maintain its long-range defense systems and contribute to NATO-aligned efforts to deter aggression in the region.
As the conflict in Ukraine continues, international collaborations such as this reflect a growing global commitment to supporting Ukrainian sovereignty and security. The Denmark-based facility represents a historic milestone in Ukraine’s defense strategy, providing critical infrastructure for missile production while strengthening ties with key Western allies in the military and technological domains.
