Iran Rejects U.S. Claims of Nuclear Negotiation Talks

Tehran: Iran has dismissed recent assertions by the United States that the two countries are engaged in talks over Tehran’s nuclear program. In a statement on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei called the U.S. claims “untrue” and accused Washington of attempting to portray a false image of diplomacy.

Baghaei emphasized that America’s claim of a desire for negotiations is “nothing but deception and blatant contradiction,” noting that diplomatic dialogue cannot coexist with acts of aggression. His remarks came after U.S. Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Washington was in discussions with Iran with a view to negotiations.

The statement underscores the persistent mistrust between the two nations over Iran’s nuclear activities. While Tehran has previously signaled openness to dialogue under certain conditions, the latest comments suggest that Iran remains skeptical of U.S. intentions, especially given ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.

Experts say the exchange highlights the fragile state of U.S.-Iran relations, where diplomatic overtures are often complicated by military posturing and strategic rivalry. No official response has yet been issued by Washington regarding Iran’s rejection of the U.S. claims.

This development adds another layer of complexity to Middle East diplomacy, signaling that any future negotiations will require careful navigation of mutual skepticism and longstanding geopolitical conflicts.
