Thailand Floods: Death Toll Reaches 22 as Relief Efforts Intensify

Bangkok:  As of October 7, 2025, the death toll from the recent floods in Thailand has risen to 22, with approximately 370,000 individuals affected by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers. Nineteen provinces have been impacted, with Uttaradit and Ayutthaya, located north of Bangkok, among the worst-hit areas. Authorities are distributing food and essential supplies to those affected and are closely monitoring water levels as the monsoon season continues to bring widespread rainfall across the region.

In response to the disaster, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered urgent relief measures. The floods, triggered by several days of heavy rain and storms, have affected 16 provinces, resulting in the deaths of 12 people and impacting over 100,000 households, particularly in northern, central, and northeastern regions. Uttaradit province in northern Thailand is among the worst hit, with five reported fatalities. Residents have been forced to evacuate to higher ground, with some seeking refuge in temples. The Prime Minister emphasized the deployment of aid and damage assessments while warning of further rainfall with the onset of the monsoon season.

The Disaster Prevention Department is coordinating relief operations, including the distribution of food and essential supplies. Authorities are also monitoring water levels closely as the monsoon season continues to bring heavy rainfall across the region.
