Suicide attack on paramilitary base in Peshawar leaves officers and attackers dead

Peshawar:  A suicide attack on the Frontier Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar on Monday morning left at least three officers dead and several others injured, according to police and security officials. Two attackers were also killed during the assault.

The incident began when a suicide bomber set off explosives at the main entrance of the compound. Soon after the blast, another attacker tried to enter the facility, leading to an exchange of gunfire with security personnel. Officials said the quick response from guards prevented the attackers from reaching areas where many officers were gathered for morning duties.

Emergency teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, and security forces immediately sealed off the surrounding area. A search operation is underway to ensure no additional threats remain.

No group has claimed responsibility so far, but authorities say the attack follows a recent rise in militant activity in northwestern Pakistan, especially in regions close to the Afghanistan border.

Government leaders condemned the assault and praised the security forces for their swift action. They also assured that those behind the attack would be brought to justice.

Investigations are ongoing to find out how the attackers reached the heavily guarded facility and whether they had any support from outside networks. Further updates are expected from officials as the situation develops.
