Thrissur: A one hundred kilometre long handwritten Bible created in Thrissur has entered the Best of India Record as the longest handwritten Bible in the world. The historic work was completed by 2025 people as part of the Jubilee Year 2025 celebrations.
The initiative was jointly organised by the KCYM Thrissur Archdiocese and the Our Lady of Dolours Basilica pilgrimage centre. The formal completion and release of the Bible was marked when Cardinal Mar George Koovakad wrote the final verse, symbolically concluding the massive collective effort.
The record certificate was handed over during a ceremony held at 8.30 am on Sunday at the basilica premises. The certificate was presented by Best of India Record representative M K Josy from Delhi. It was received by Cardinal Mar George Koovakad along with Basilica rector Fr Thomas Kakkassery, Fr Gio Cheradai, Fr Sajan Vadakkan, Fr Alexes Marottickal, office bearers of KCYM Thrissur Archdiocese and representatives of the pilgrimage centre.
A large gathering including KCYM archdiocese leaders, office bearers from various forane units, youth representatives, basilica trustees, parish representatives and members of the centenary year celebration committee attended the event.
Organisers said the project was a symbol of faith, unity and dedication, highlighting the role of young people in preserving and celebrating Christian spiritual heritage through meaningful collective action.
