Explosion damages Jewish school in Amsterdam, no injuries reported

Amsterdam: An explosion damaged a Jewish school in Amsterdam early Saturday, raising concern among the city’s Jewish community and prompting a police investigation.

According to Dutch news agency ANP, the blast occurred outside a Jewish school building in the southern part of the Dutch capital. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area.

Authorities said no one was injured in the incident and the damage to the building was limited. Police and forensic teams began examining the site soon after the explosion and are reviewing surveillance footage to identify those responsible.

Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema condemned the attack and described it as an act directed against the Jewish community. She said such incidents create fear and tension among residents and stressed that antisemitism has no place in the city.

Police have not yet announced any arrests. Investigators are working to determine how the explosive device was placed and whether the attack was linked to extremist activity.

The incident comes at a time of increased concern over attacks on Jewish institutions in parts of Europe. Security around Jewish schools and places of worship in the Netherlands has been strengthened following recent threats and incidents.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.
