New Delhi : Though the Omicron variant has been confirmed in the country but a lockdown is not under consideration, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Awareness about the spread of the disease is essential rather than panic. There is no major crisis due to this variant anywhere in the world. So far, 373 cases have been confirmed in 29 countries, according to the Ministry.
Passengers who travelled with the confirmed cases in the India have also been tested for the variant. Once the result of ten more passengers come out negative, the close contact list will be completed.
The personal details of the patients were not available. Under the new circumstances, India is likely to revise the Covid defence standards. Omicron is a highly contagious Covid variant. States including Kerala are trying to complete the vaccination of its population.
