Derogatory Question in CBSE Class X English Exam; Christian Communities takes up issue

There has been widespread outcry from various Christian organizations on social media against the inclusion of a question insulting the Holy Bible and the Christian community in the Class X English question paper conducted by CBSE this time. The question was prepared in such a way as to ask the children why the Bible is not suitable for young people and the various similar answers and to choose the correct answer from it.

Christians understand that the inclusion of a subject which is not in the syllabus in the English question paper is meant to mislead the children about Christianity and the Holy Bible. Believers are demanding that CBSE withdraws its question and apologize for insulting the scriptures of a religious sect in secular India.

Many organizations feel that such incidents cannot be seen in isolation in the context of attacks. It is doubtful whether this is part of an agenda that has been made public at the behest of anyone. They also hope that the CBSE will take appropriate action against the culprits in view of the protests of the believers.

A controversial Class 10 English exam question on "disobedience of wives", flagged as deeply misogynist, was dropped by the CBSE on December 13, amid searing outrage that reached the parliament.
