New Delhi: The Central government may ban the Popular Front, an extremist organization, according to a report. In Kerala, the Popular Front and its political party, the SDPI, have been accused of a number of anti-national activities.
National media reported that the government may decide on the ban this week. Preparations for the ban have been completed and an official notification is likely to be issued soon, the report said.
The Popular Front is already banned in several states. The central government is now planning to ban the organization across the country through a central notification.
Violence erupted in Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal last weekend during the Ram Navami procession. Various state governments reported to the Center that the Popular Front was involved in these incidents.
The Popular Front and its political wing, the SDPI, are implicated in the Bangalore explosion case and the Love Jihad case.
