Kochi : “Offer closes soon”..the voice of Rocky Bhai in KGF2 resonated in the theatre and is remembered by all who have seen the blockbuster movie. As much as the star of the movie is in the minds of fans, so is the power filled voice. This over the edge voice was rendered and dubbed in Malayalam by Arun C M.
''I am thrilled to be a part of both the chapters of KGF. Dubbing for the first and second chapters was entirely different from each other,'' said Arun during one of the interviews on his dubbing adventure.
In the past, audiences were unable to relate with the artificial dialect of dialogues in the dubbed versions of movies with original releases in another language. Exceptionally dubbing and dialogue delivery has made other-language movies popular even among Keralite viewers.
It is Arun’s mesmerising voice that made Rocky Bhai a bumper hit among the Keralite audiences.
This is not the first blockbuster movie in which Arun has lend his voice to. His is the same thunderous voice of Prabhas in Bahubali and of the Junior NTR delivering dialogues in Arun's voice for RRR.
''I am thrilled to be a part of both the chapters of KGF. Dubbing for the first and second chapters was entirely different from each other,'' said Arun.
''I had completed dubbing for the first chapter in just around two and a half hours. But when it came to the second, I was totally engaged with the entire dubbing schedule right from voice tests, and it took a year to complete the entire process,'' he added.
“It was just 14 days before the release of the first chapter that the team asked for my voice test and I was selected as the voice of the protagonist. At that time, I considered it just as any other ordinary Kannada film and completed the dubbing within two and a half hours. I had not heard much about Prasanth Neel till then. It was after the dubbing that I saw his directorial debut 'Ugramm' and was hugely impressed” Arun C M says.
After KGF Chapter 1 was released in Malayalam, it gradually caught the audience and many of the dialogues became a runaway hit. Arun said he did not expect to be part of the second chapter.
''When it came to the second chapter, the production house had a much clearer idea about the expectations of the audience. The Malayalam production team hence approached it in a highly professional way. The script was translated by the eminent screen-writer Shankar Ramakrishnan. It was a complicated process to translate with suitable words ensuring an accurate lip-sync. Many stars were invited for voice tests and the best among them were selected for each character, Arun adds.
In the end, Arun was selected to lend his voice for Rocky Bhai. Arun has also worked as a dubbing director.
''Yash gave an excellent performance in the movie. So, it was a challenge for me to dub the voice so that it matched his performance, the outcome was quite satisfactory'' Arun said.
Arun has been active in the dubbing industry for many years. He has acted in seven Malayalam movies, worked as an assistant director, associate director and production controller for some movies.
''When I moved over to the section of dubbed movies, they were not considered as part of the mainstream Malayalam film industry.
