Wayanad: In the context of severe wildlife harassment, an all-party meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Kerala Forest Minister A. K. Saseendran. Collector, forest department officials and political party representatives will attend the meeting at the collectorate. Measures to be taken to prevent wildlife disturbance, compensation etc. will be discussed.
The forest minister will visit the family of farmer Thomas, who was killed in a tiger attack. The government announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Thomas yesterday. Vigilance continues in areas where there is a tiger threat.
The forest minister had said yesterday that he would look for the possibility of birth control of tigers during the crisis of wildlife attacks. The legal possibility of birth control will be examined and will take possible measures. He informed that he would approach the Supreme Court for this.
After one person was killed in a tiger attack in Wayanad, there was a huge protest from the people. In Dhoni of Palakkad and Sultan Batheri of Wayanad, wild animals pose a threat to the lives of the people. Also as per reports, Wayanad has more tigers than the forest can hold and people are expecting more wild animals threat in these area. In this context, the Forest Minister himself has come forward with a response in this regard.
