PM Modi Launches Rs 75 Coin

On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a special commemorative Rs 75 coin to commemorate the inauguration of the new parliament building. The Department of Economic Affairs, under the Union Ministry of Finance, announced that the coin would weigh around 35 grams.

These coins are not meant for general circulation and cannot be used for transactions, clarified a Finance Ministry official. Commemorative coins are typically released to mark significant events and feature unique designs that symbolize the occasion. They hold value for coin collectors and are cherished as collectibles.

Interested individuals can purchase this coin from the government website www.indiagovtmint.in. The coin has a diameter of 44 mm and is composed of a quaternary alloy containing 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zinc, as stated by the Finance Ministry in an earlier statement. Notably, it has 200 serrations along its edges.

Yogesh Singhal, president of the Bullion Jewellers Association, mentioned that the material cost alone amounts to a minimum of Rs 1,300. To determine the actual price at which the coin can be purchased, one must wait for further information from the government.
