Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is diligently following through on his promises and implementing the initiatives he announced after assuming office. One of the significant decisions made by the Tamil Nadu government during a recent cabinet meeting is the introduction of a monthly salary of Rs 1,000 for homemakers in the state. This new initiative will come into effect from September 15 and aims to ensure that homemakers receive financial support. The scheme is specifically designed to benefit those who do not possess ration cards or have any other regular sources of income.
Looking back, it becomes evident that even before Stalin took office, there were several populist decisions proposed. These included measures such as free bus rides for women, reducing milk prices, implementing welfare schemes for Dalits and transgender individuals, and introducing a salary for homemakers. Now, under the legislative term of the DMK, many of these promises have been transformed into reality, with Chief Minister Stalin leading the way. Additional measures that have been implemented include providing nutritious morning meals for school students and recognizing the value of homemakers by introducing salaries for their household chores. It is worth noting that the provision of salaries for homemakers fulfills a commitment made by the DMK government three years after assuming power.
Currently, the focus of the Stalin government is not only on successfully implementing various welfare programs but also on attracting substantial investments to the state. These achievements are viewed as key indicators of the government's effectiveness and success. However, it is important to acknowledge that despite the opposition being relatively weak, they still present challenges to the DMK government's initiatives and policies. Nonetheless, the government remains committed to its agenda of improving the lives of the people of Tamil Nadu and driving the state towards progress and prosperity.
