IDF Airstrike Neutralizes Hamas Deputy Intelligence Chief Involved in October 7 Attacks

Tel Aviv - On October 26, 2023, in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces announced the elimination of Shadi Barud, the deputy head of Hamas's intelligence directorate. Barud was implicated in the planning of the October 7 attacks in southern Israel alongside Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Before his role as deputy head of intelligence, Barud served as a battalion commander in the Khan Younis area and held various positions within the Hamas intelligence directorate. The IDF further stated that he was responsible for planning multiple terrorist attacks targeting Israeli civilians.

The IDF also released a video showcasing the airstrike that led to Barud's demise.
