Bengaluru - The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended two individuals in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe explosion case in Bengaluru, according to confirmed sources on Tuesday.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the two detainees were in direct communication with the suspected perpetrator. NIA operatives picked them up from a location in the state capital, although an official statement from the NIA is pending.
Despite extensive search efforts by both NIA and the state's special wing CCB teams across multiple states, the bomber remains at large. Authorities obtained the perpetrator's images and footage from CCTV cameras shortly after the March 1 incident.
Sources suggest that investigators suspect the bomber originated from Tamil Nadu and resided in a neighboring state for approximately two months before executing the attack.
Hair samples retrieved from the suspect's discarded hat near a religious site in Bengaluru have been collected for DNA testing, offering potential leads.
The explosion occurred at Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1 along the International Technology Park Limited (ITPL) road in the Brookfield area. A low-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was employed, resulting in injuries to nine individuals.
