Apple MacBook Pros, now with enhanced power

Shortly after the latest issue of Technophile went to print last Thursday, Apple unveiled its newest MacBook Pro lineup, powered by the next-generation M4 chip family—comprising the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max. These new models are designed to seamlessly integrate with Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary AI suite. Moreover, the M4 chip boosts the battery life of the MacBook Pro, offering up to an impressive 24 hours of usage on a single charge.

Every model in the new lineup features a Liquid Retina XDR display, now enhanced with an optional nano-texture finish and capable of reaching 1,000 nits of brightness for SDR content. The upgraded 12 MP Center Stage camera automatically keeps users in the frame during movement and introduces a new Desk View feature for a more immersive video call experience. Apple has also refined the audio experience, with studio-grade microphones and a six-speaker system that supports Spatial Audio.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip can drive two high-resolution external displays in addition to its built-in screen. It also offers three Thunderbolt 4 ports and is available in Space Black and Silver finishes. Starting at 16 GB of RAM, the base price is ₹1,69,900.

The M4 Pro and M4 Max variants in the 14- and 16-inch models come equipped with Thunderbolt 5, offering significantly faster data transfer speeds. These high-performance machines are tailored for professionals such as researchers, engineers, developers, and creative pros who require cutting-edge processing power for resource-intensive tasks. The M4 Max, in particular, is designed for power users like data scientists, 3D artists, and music composers who demand the highest performance.

Pricing for the new MacBook Pro models is as follows:
14-inch MacBook Pro with M4: ₹1,69,900 (₹1,59,900 for education)
14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro: ₹1,99,900 (₹1,84,900 for education)
16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro/Max: ₹2,49,900 (₹2,29,900 for education)
Pre-orders are now open, with shipping starting on November 8.

In addition to the MacBook Pro updates, Apple also introduced a 16 GB RAM variant of the MacBook Air, which now supports Apple Intelligence as well. This new version of the MacBook Air is priced starting at ₹99,900.
