Thiruvananthapuram: The Malayalam version of Pope Francis' latest encyclical, Dilexit Nos ("He Loved Us"), centered on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, titled Avidunnu Anatoma Snehachu, was officially released on Sunday. The ceremony was led by Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, Catholicos, President of the KCBC, and Major Archbishop of the Malankara Catholic Church. Joining him at the event were Rev. Fr. Peter Chakyath, OCD Malabar Province Provincial; Fr. James Alakuzhiyil, OCD; and Fr. Thomas Kurishingal, OCD, the translator and director of Carmel Publishing House.
Pope Francis' fourth encyclical invites humanity to become "hearts for a heartless world," addressing crises such as wars, social inequalities, and the ethical challenges posed by rapid technological advancements. The Holy Father emphasizes rediscovering the love of Christ—both divine and human—as the solution to these global challenges.
Released globally on October 24, Dilexit Nos highlights the enduring message of the Sacred Heart of Christ. It joins Pope Francis’ previous encyclicals: The Light of Faith (2013), Praise to You (Laudato Si’, 2015), and We Are Brothers (Fratelli Tutti, 2020).
