Kochi: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, in preparation for the upcoming Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, is currently underway. The Syro-Malabar Congregation has emphasized that all members of the community must actively participate in this process. Special attention should be given to families with elderly members or individuals living alone, ensuring they receive the enumeration form, complete it accurately, and return it within the stipulated timeframe. Parish-level arrangements may be made where necessary to facilitate participation. Organizations such as A.K.C.C. and S.M.Y.M. have also called for proactive engagement by the faithful.
The SIR exercise is being conducted based on the 2002 electoral roll, which makes it relatively straightforward for those already listed in 2002 and still residing in the same constituency to update their details. However, individuals added to the voter list after 2002 will need to refer to their parents’ details from the 2002 roll and include these in the SIR form. Likewise, those who have moved due to marriage or relocation must include the voter details of their previous constituency. The 2002 voter list is accessible online at www.ceo.kerala.gov.in.
Particular care must be taken to ensure that all family members, siblings living outside Kerala or abroad, expatriates, and priests or missionaries who left the country at a young age are included in the SIR, especially if they wish to maintain their Indian citizenship. Families and close relatives are urged to assist in this process. The SIR form can also be filled out online, and it is imperative that all members understand the importance of the procedure and complete it accurately and promptly.
It has been announced that the draft voter list will be published on December 9, 2025. All individuals who have turned eighteen and are not listed must ensure their names are registered to exercise their right to vote. Complete participation in the SIR is essential for safeguarding electoral rights and upholding civic responsibility.
