Uttar Pradesh DM Sets Example, Enrolls Daughter in Government Anganwadi to Boost Public Confidence

Chitrakoot: In a move that has caught the public eye, Chitrakoot District Magistrate Pulkit Garg personally enrolled his three-year-old daughter, Siya, in a government-run anganwadi centre, sending a strong message about trust in public education and childcare institutions.

Garg admitted Siya to the playgroup at the anganwadi attached to the government composite school in Karvi’s Naya Bazaar area, completing the admission process himself about four days ago. Officials said the gesture reflects the administration’s efforts to promote enrolment in government-run centres and to showcase confidence in their quality of service.

Speaking to the media, Garg emphasized the changing perception of public education. “The situation is no longer what it used to be. The quality of education has steadily improved, resources are available, and there is no reason for hesitation. If an IAS officer can entrust his child to a government institution, ordinary parents should feel encouraged,” he said.

The DM highlighted that early childhood needs nutrition, health, values, and a safe environment are effectively addressed by anganwadi centres. He appealed to parents, villagers, and local officials to move beyond traditional social perceptions and place faith in government schools and anganwadis. “Children here are not only educated but also nurtured in a safe, value-oriented environment. Public confidence is key to strengthening our education system,” Garg added.

Since joining the anganwadi, Siya has been actively participating in classroom activities. Videos circulating online show her playing with toys, engaging in educational exercises, and dancing to rhymes alongside her peers, capturing the attention of social media users nationwide.

Pulkit Garg, currently serving his first posting as District Magistrate and just four months into his tenure, has already gained recognition for initiatives in water conservation and other administrative efforts. By personally enrolling his child in a government centre, he has set a visible precedent for other officials and parents to trust and support India’s public education and childcare infrastructure.

This act of leading by example has sparked widespread discussion, with many lauding the DM for bridging the gap between public perception and government institutions.
