Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations for the academic year 2025–26 are officially set to commence on March 5, 2026, as announced by the state Education Minister V. Sivankutty. This marks a significant moment for students, parents, and educators alike, as Class 10 board exams are a crucial milestone in Kerala’s school education system. With the board exams now just over a month away, preparations are in full swing across the state’s thousands of schools, with the government and exam authorities leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and fair examination process. The results of these examinations are scheduled to be declared on May 8, 2026, providing students with a clear timeline to plan their academic next steps.
According to the official schedule released by the Pareeksha Bhavan, the SSLC examinations will run from March 5 to March 30, covering a wide array of subjects as per the Kerala Board curriculum. In addition to the main examinations, the timetable also includes preparatory activities such as Information Technology (IT) examinations, which are slated from February 2 to February 13, and model examinations from February 16 to 20. These model exams are designed to provide students with an opportunity to rehearse under real exam conditions, identify areas that need improvement, and build confidence ahead of the main assessment period. Educators have highlighted that such structured preparations are essential for managing exam stress and enhancing overall performance.
Once the written examinations conclude at the end of March, the evaluation process will commence, with answer sheets being scrutinised and marks tabulated between April 7 and April 25. Following this, the Board will conduct a final review on May 7 to ensure accuracy and consistency before officially releasing the results on May 8, 2026. This systematic approach is intended to maintain the credibility and transparency of the examination process while providing students and parents with timely updates regarding performance. The advance announcement of the schedule aims to give students sufficient time to organize their revision plans and address any last-minute academic challenges.
Authorities have also stressed that schools and examination centres across the state are being thoroughly prepared to handle the logistics and administrative requirements of the exams. This includes ensuring adequate seating arrangements, safe distribution of question papers, proper invigilation, and adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols where necessary. With approximately 4.2 lakh students expected to appear for the SSLC examinations this year, officials have underlined the importance of maintaining a fair, orderly, and secure environment for all examinees.
Students and parents are advised to carefully review the official timetable, ensure that admit cards and identification documents are ready, and comply with all examination guidelines. The SSLC results are a decisive factor in shaping students’ higher secondary education choices and career trajectories, making thorough preparation, discipline, and adherence to examination norms critical. Education experts have also recommended that students focus on time management, consistent practice, and stress management techniques to excel in the upcoming examinations.
