Manipur Catholic Youth Excel in UPSC and State Civil Services, Inspiring a Generation

Imphal: A wave of pride and celebration has swept through the Catholic community in Manipur as a group of young achievers secured notable success in the country’s most competitive civil service examinations. Their accomplishments reflect not only academic excellence but also a deep-rooted commitment to perseverance, discipline, and service to the nation.

In an official statement, the Manipur Catholic Youth Organization (MCYO) extended heartfelt congratulations to four of its members who distinguished themselves in both national and state-level examinations. Among them, Dr. Vapani John Tao secured an impressive Rank 800 in the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination 2025. Lawrence Masouhrii successfully cleared the UPSC Assistant Commandant (CAPF) examination, while in the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination, Laijing Leikhulshim Maring and Katalanpou Rongmei secured Rank 24 and Rank 40 respectively.

The organization also paid tribute to its former president, Napoleon Rongmei from Luangreng Village in Noney district, who has been inducted into the prestigious Indian Forest Service through UPSC. Rongmei, who previously served in the Manipur Forest Service, led MCYO for nearly eight years and was instrumental in shaping youth leadership and strengthening Church-led initiatives across the state.
Speaking on his journey, Laijing Leikhulshim Maring currently serving as Sports Secretary of MCYO and Deputy Director at the Sports Authority of India highlighted that his success was built on resilience forged through repeated setbacks. He emphasized that true achievement lies not just in clearing examinations, but in rising stronger after failures and contributing meaningfully to society.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Katalanpou Rongmei attributed his accomplishment to divine grace and the unwavering support of his family and well-wishers. He urged fellow aspirants to cultivate a spirit of healthy competition, encouraging one another to strive for excellence.

Dr. Vapani John Tao, a graduate of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and a native of Oinam Hill Village in Senapati district, described his success as the result of years of sacrifice, focus, and determination. He expressed hope that his journey would motivate young Catholics to dream fearlessly and pursue their aspirations with courage and faith.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Masouhrii, who cleared the UPSC Assistant Commandant examination in 2023 and now serves as an officer in the Border Security Force, currently posted in Punjab, encouraged aspirants to remain steadfast in their efforts. He stressed that giving up is the only true failure, urging youth to give their best while entrusting the outcome to God.

Lauding the achievers, MCYO described their success as a beacon of inspiration for Catholic youth across Manipur. The organization also offered prayers for their continued guidance and strength as they step into roles that contribute to public service and the broader mission of nation-building.
