Norwegian Christmas party becomes the venue for biggest outbreak of Omicron outside South Africa

A corporate Christmas party described as a "superspreader event," has infected at least 13 people in with the Omicron variant. Authorities said on Friday that their numbers could rise to over 60 cases.

The renewable energy company Scatec had organised the party on November 26th. The company also operates in South Africa where the variant was first detected.

Preben Aavitsland, a senior physician at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health told Reuters by email that the party has been a superspreader event.
