Strict action will be taken against protesting PG doctors: Minister Veena George

Thiruvananthapuram : Health Minister Veena George has said that stern action will be taken against the PG doctors who are continuing their strike. The protesting doctors demands that the first year PG admission are to be done earlier. The minister said that the state is unable to resolve this issue as it is under the consideration of the Supreme Court.

The strike was called off following assurances that N.I.J.R’s would be appointed for the period up to the allotment of first-year students as part of reducing the workload of PG doctors. But a section of PG doctors are deliberately interfering with Covid prevention measures and non-Covid related treatments.

The government has taken a very sympathetic stance towards PG doctors. The government has limitations in intervening in the matter that is under consideration by the Supreme the court. The doctors must withdraw from the struggle that is creating a hurdle in the treatment of the people. She also said stringent action would be taken against those who did not adhere to this request.
