Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has signed the Lokayukta Amendment Ordinance. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the Raj Bhavan yesterday and met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The CM spoke in length with the governor on issues ranging from the controversies over the university appointment to the Lokayukta Amendment Ordinance.

The government was expecting a favorable decision from the Governor today, on the Lokayukta ordinance after the one-and-a-half-hour-long meeting yesterday.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister spoke of his health condition, circumstances that prompted the Lokayukta to amend the law and the Government's position on the objections raised by the Opposition in the Ordinance.

The Chief Minister also said that there was misleading news about the explanation given by the government before the Lokayukta regarding the re-appointment of Dr. Gopinath Raveendran as the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University.

In the last few days, the Governor was informed that there are provisions in the Lokayukta Act which are not available in any other state in Kerala. With the meeting of the Chief Minister, this conflict was completely resolved.

The schedule for the assembly session will be decided at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
