Saint Anysius was a Greek martyr. She was a rich woman from Salonika, Thessaly, who helped the underprivileged with her own money. She was attacked by a soldier in the street who attempted to take her to a pagan sacrifice. The soldier struck her with his sword after Anysius protested, killing her.
