Kochi: The Prolife Global Fellowship has raised alarm over a controversial amendment passed by the British Parliament, condemning it as a direct affront to the sanctity of human life and a step away from a life-affirming culture. The new legislation, which reportedly permits abortions up to the moment of birth, has been described by prolife advocates as one of the darkest chapters in British legislative history.
Sabu Jose, Chairman of the Fellowship, criticized the amendment as "inhuman, merciless, and a grave threat to the moral foundation of society." He argued that the law enables the termination of a pregnancy at any stage, without restriction, turning what should be a protective measure for women into a weapon against unborn life.
The bill passed the House of Commons with 379 votes in favor and 137 against, a result that has sparked widespread dismay among prolife supporters globally. According to Jose, allowing abortions so late in pregnancy under the guise of women’s autonomy is not about empowerment, but about normalizing a culture of death. “This is not about choice,” he said. “It’s about sanctioning the destruction of life created through the union of man and woman.”
He further urged the international community to neither normalize nor remain silent about this “anti-life” development. Jose called on humanitarian organizations and moral voices around the world to raise strong objections and ensure such legislation is not replicated elsewhere. He warned that failure to act now could pave the way for similar laws in other nations, endangering the future of unborn children across the globe.
