New Delhi: India has postponed an order to resume foreign flights from the 15th of this month. The center changed its decision as part of its vigilance against the new Covid variant Omicron. The order was issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation following a high-level review meeting convened by the Prime Minister.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had opposed the decision to resume flights. He also blamed delays in the suspension of flights for aggravating the spread of Covid in India. Chief ministers of other states have also demanded that the resumption of air services be delayed.
Meanwhile, samples of travelers arriving in India from Omicron-effected countries are taken for testing. The country is also stepping up its defensive measures against the new variant.
