New Delhi: V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs of India has said that additional flights will be arranged in the coming days to repatriate Indians from Ukraine in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
"For the time being, Indian citizens will not be forcibly evicted from Ukraine" Muraleedharan said. All are urged to provide their contact information to the Indian Embassy in Kiev, to ensure they can be contacted in case of an emergency. All those who wish to return may do so, however he added that in the present situation, many are unwilling to return to India.
The Embassy in Kiev had earlier stated that it would run additional services for repatriation. There will be four additional services between March 25 and March 6 this month. In addition, regular flights from Ukraine to India will be operated by Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways and other airlines.
The Indian embassy said students should not wait for official notification from universities and should leave the country temporarily for security reasons.
Many students have sought clarifications on online classes conducted by medical universities if the need arises. Embassy officials said the matter was being taken up with the relevant authorities.
