St. Albinus, who made it his goal to live for Jesus

Daily Saints - March 01

Saint Albinus was born into an ancient family in Britain. Albinus, a young man who grew up with extraordinary piety at an early age, joined the Tintland monastery against his parents’ wish. He accepted all the hardships of monastic life and led a very humble life.

Saint's purpose in life was to 'live for Jesus'. His perfect devotion to prayer and exemplary life earned a great respect among other monks. When  only 35, Albinus was ordained as abbot of Tintiland. Under his good governance the monastery prospered greatly and the monks there, were nurtured by the his spirituality.

After 25 years of service as abbot, he was ordained as bishop of the diocese of Anchorage in 529 at the age of 60. Even though, even the ruling members consulted Saint often, he never let his humility down. As a bishop, Albinus worked tirelessly for the welfare of his people and to give them required guidance.
With the help of King Childebert, Saint formed two councils in Orleans to oppose illicit marriage in families. Meanwhile, Gentiles attacked the Diocese of Anchors and enslaved many civilians. By giving ransom, St Albinus freed many of them and gave financial aid to the needy. Saint Albinus died on March 1, 549.
