New Delhi - Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on her way to Gandhinagar, as she will be attending the third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (G20FMCBG) meetings, taking place on July 17-18. This event holds special significance as it falls under India's G20 presidency.
During the G20FMCBG meetings, Sitharaman will be engaging in various activities, including participating in an Investor Dialogue Roundtable, a tax symposium, and conducting bilateral meetings with representatives from Canada, Indonesia, the US, the European Commission, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The agenda for the meeting covers a wide range of topics concerning the global economy and international financial architecture. Notably, Sitharaman, along with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, will jointly preside over the third G20 FMCBG meeting.
This gathering will mark a significant milestone as it represents the culmination of efforts towards delivering key outcomes from the G20 Finance Track throughout 2023. These accomplishments are the result of collaborative work across various streams, based on the mandate received during the first G20 FMCBG conclave held in February in Bengaluru. Ajay Seth, the secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, had previously highlighted this progress last week.
